Programmed by Sarah Cahill

Carl Stone, one of the earliest adopters of live computer music, returns to BAMPFA in its new space for an all-too-rare solo Bay Area show. He will perform selections from his Sampling Neurosis series, recent works composed for laptop and the Elektron Octatrack.

Carl Stone has been hailed by the Village Voice as "the king of sampling" and "one of the best composers living in [the US] today." He has used computers in live performance since 1986, and now divides his time between California and Japan, where he is on the faculty of the Department of Media Engineering at Chukyo University.

Special thanks to Meyer Sound for loaning speakers that make this performance possible.
