Poets Sharon Coleman and MK Chavez lead this workshop that explores BAMPFA's collection and the exhibitions currently on view, through words. Hosted by Berkeley Poetry Festival, the workshop offers the opportunity to explore and write ekphrastic poetry, or poetry created through ekphrasis, a process of translating an image into words.

This workshop is appropriate for most ages and levels of writing experience.

Following the workshop there will be a reading by local poets Raina Leon, Tongo Eisen-Martin, Sarah Kobrinsky, Maw Shein Win, Ruby Spies, James Cagney, MK Chavez, and Sharon Coleman. Selected poems from this event will be collected into a chapbook, which will be released at the next Berkeley Poetry Festival.
