One of the first sights visitors to the Create exhibition are confronted with is an enormous wall-sized reproduction of Michael Bernard Loggins’s list poem Fears of Your Life. The list was originally published in 1995 in the artist’s zine Whipper Snapper Nerd. The list is staggeringly thorough: common fears (“Fear of black cats”), supernatural fears (“Fear of monsters under my bed”), and more personal ones (“Why do people when they see me coming what do they tell their friends? Don’t cross the street I don’t want to get hurt”). Viewing it you’ll likely note fears you have, but that your conscious mind never really acknowledged having.
