Photographer Dick Evans introduces his new book of photographs of San Francisco's Mission District that focus on that neighborhood's quintessential art form, the community mural. The Mission, published by Heyday Books with foreword by Juan Felipe Herrera and introduction by Carla Wojczuk, features photographs of murals, architecture, and residents, together with quotes, poems, and essays by artists and writers from the Mission. Evans's previous book, in collaboration with Ben Fong-Torres, was San Francisco and the Bay Area: The Haight-Ashbury Edition. A book signing follows the reading.
