    Mark Minch-de Leon

    Mark Minch-de Leon is an Associate Professor of Film & Media at UC Berkeley.

Founded in 2018 by Sky Hopinka, Adam Khalil, Alexandra Lazarowich, and Adam Piron, COUSIN was created to support Indigenous artists expanding traditional definitions of, and experimenting with, moving image form and genre. This program offers a selection of works made by COUSIN collective artists, including Hopinka’s 2017 consideration of the Dakota Access Pipeline protest and Lindsay McIntyre’s film about caribou and lichen—made using those materials in the photographic process. A short film by Lebanese artist Christophe Katrib reflects on the dissonance he experiences living on the stolen land of the United States as “U.S-backed Israel commits genocide and ethnic cleansing on Palestine and my homeland of Lebanon.”
