Multidisciplinary artist and educator Indira Urrutia is a cofounder of Mi Cultura Art Project in San Francisco. Since graduating with a BS in studio art, she has worked in photography, mixed media, installation art, and sculpture. Her teaching draws on principles of free artistic expression to guide students in discovering their own creativity.

Get inspired by artworks in To the Letter: Regarding the Written Word, an exhibition that focuses on the artistic uses of text, the idea of writing, and the shapes of letters. Using newspaper, fabric, tissue paper, photography, and layering, explore letterforms as graphic elements while you create original mixed-media collages.

About Gallery + Studio
On the second Saturday of each month, Gallery + Studio connects art viewing with art making in ways that engage both young people and their grown-ups. Each two-part workshop integrates an interactive gallery tour with a related art project, and lasts about an hour and a half. Sign up onsite beginning fifteen minutes before the session you wish to attend. Space is limited to twelve kids per session; please arrive promptly to sign up.
