-
Workshop led byRaphael Noz is on the faculty at San Jose State University, where he teaches fine art. He holds an MS in early childhood education from Wheelock College and an MFA from California College of the Arts. His work has been exhibited at BAMPFA, San Diego Museum of Art, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and galleries in California and beyond.
This two-part workshop integrates an interactive gallery tour with a related art project. Sign up in the Art Lab ten minutes ahead of the session, which begins with a short gallery tour at 11:30.
What does it mean to draw with thread, and what might this look like? Learn about Lee ShinJa’s process as we look closely at artworks she made by hand from a range of fibers. Back in the studio, explore some of the same materials to express “drawing with thread.” Will you arrange materials to make an image you have in mind? Or will you let the thread lead the way and “draw” its own design? Explore the possibilities—the choice is yours.
