For ages 6–12 with accompanying adult(s)

  • Workshop led by

Marcela Florez holds an MFA in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute and has taught at Southern Exposure, LA Commons, the de Young Museum, and BAMPFA. In her own practice, she makes drawings, collages, and prints of historical texts, maps, and imaginary geographies.

This two-part workshop integrates an interactive gallery tour with a related art project. Sign up in the Art Lab ten minutes ahead of the session, which begins with a short gallery tour at 11:30 AM.

Zeinab Saleh’s paintings, composed of ordinary objects placed directly on the canvas and subtle washes of acrylic paint, present a meditative perspective on the everyday. Inspired by a guided gallery tour of Saleh’s work, make a textured print using leaves, flowers, fabric, popsicle sticks, and other objects. Then work with watercolors to add foreground and other details to your composition. Feel free to bring small objects with texture to include in your painting.
