Swap Circle at BAMPFA: Clothing Swap

Join SWAP CIRCLE and BAMPFA for an afternoon of shared community, creative exchange and joy! This isn’t just a clothing swap. It's an invitation to slow down, rethink how we consume, and build something more generous together. One garment at a time.

How It Works & What to Bring

Bring up to 20 special clothing or accessory items you know someone else would love. These will be “gifts” to your fellow swappers. (When you go through your closet, choose things you would proudly give a good friend). You will receive tokens for your accepted items, up to 20. You will have free access to use these tokens to then "shop" during the event.

Accepted Items

• Clothing — items should be for adults (all genders) and clean; please do not bring workout gear, socks or undergarments, swimsuits, lingerie or children’s clothing.
• Accessories — includes purses, belts, sunglasses, scarves, hats (please do not bring jewelry)
• Mendable items are welcome.
• Please do not bring items on hangers.

Drop Off

We encourage participants to drop-off items at BAMPFA on Saturday, June 27 from 11am–4pm. When you drop off your items, you will receive tokens that will allow you to then “shop” the event on Sunday, June 28 from 1pm–4pm.

Our stylists will be reviewing all items, and you will receive tokens for your accepted items. One accepted item = one token.

You can also bring your items the day of the event beginning at 1pm. Note: you may be required to display your items before you start browsing, so dropping off beforehand is recommended.

If you brought items in advance and have tokens, please proceed into the event and enjoy perusing items! Each token indicates the number of items that you can bring home with you.

If you are bringing items the day of the event, please go to the CHECK-IN table to collect your tokens and to receive instructions on where to display your items. Remember that you may be required to display your items before you start browsing, so dropping off beforehand on Saturday June 27 from 11am–4pm is recommended.

Shop

• Upon arrival at the BAMPFA, you will receive a Swap Circle sticker to enter the museum. Follow the directions to the space where the clothing swap is being held.
• Room capacity will limit admission to the event at times. You may spend some time meeting fellow swappers while you wait.
• SWAP CIRCLE stylists will be on-hand during the event to help you put together outfits or find that perfect item you’ve been searching for. This is a free, optional service.
• There will be private and semi-private changing areas.
• Please bring an empty reusable bag to carry your swap items home.
• If you need to bring personal belongings, such as coat or bag, please check them in at BAMPFA's Visitor Experience desk, so they don’t get mixed into the swap items.
• When you are finished “shopping,” visit our CHECK-OUT table to redeem your tokens for your chosen items.
• Please see a Swap Circle or BAMPFA staff member if you have questions. You can usually find us at the tables. We'll be wearing yellow lanyards.

Note

Your ticket to the clothing swap is free. Your donation of up to 20 special clothing or accessory items allows you to collect tokens to be used as “currency” to enable you to take home items donated by other swappers.
