We welcome Bay Area filmmakers Nathaniel Dorsky and Jerome Hiler, who will present four programs of their films, including Dorksy’s Hours for Jerome, Parts 1 & 2; Alaya; and Arboretum Cycle; as well as Hiler’s Words of Mercury and his latest, Careless Passage.

Nathaniel Dorsky presents a selection of five films from his extensive body of work, including the dancelike Sarabande (2008) and the magical and ineffable Alaya (1987).
Jerome Hiler presents four films, including an early work, Gladly Given (1997); Words of Mercury (2011); and his most recent film, Careless Passage (2024).
Dorsky’s complete Arboretum Cycle, films (in the artist’s words) “on a single subject, and that subject would be the light.” “The experience of watching the Arboretum Cycle in its entirety is in some very large sense stunning” (Max Goldberg).
