Folklore Around the World

(Recommended for age 5 and older.) In conjunction with the Berkeley Public Library's Summer Reading Program based on the theme Folklore and Mythology Around the World, we present film versions of the American tall tale Pecos Bill; Anansi the Spider from Africa; How the Kiwi Lost His Wings from Australia; the Hungarian tale Ondra and the Snow Dragon; a Native American coyote tale, The Dancing Bullrushes; the European tale The Fisher and His Wife; and The Stonecutter from Japan. Note: Free passes to PFA's Films for Big and Little People are available at the Berkeley Public Library for young readers who meet the summer program goals.
