French Dance Tonight (working title)

A number of films have been made on the infectious Cajun and Zydeco music of Southwest Louisiana (including films by Les Blank, Spend It All and Dry Wood and Hot Pepper), but until now none has tackled the task of putting all the important historical and modern-day musicians into one film. In this work-in-progress, filmmaker Les Blank and Arhoolie Records producer Chris Strachwitz, whose love affairs with French Louisiana date back more than twenty-five years, collaborate for the first time since their successful Chulas Fronteras (1976) and Del Mero Corazon (1979). The new film features Marc Savoy, Wayne Toups, J.D. Miller, Ann Savoy, George Broussard, Boozoo Chavis, Paul Daigle, Cajun Gold, Sheryl Cormier and Her All-Lady Cajun Band, Walter Mouton, Eddie Shuller, Queen Ida and Her Bon Ton Zydeco Band, Lionel Leleux, Michael Doucet, Barry Ancelet, Canray Fontenot, BoisSec Ardoin and sons, Dennis McGee, Hector Duhon and Octa Clark, Solange Falcon, Odelia Falcon, Nathan Abshire, the Hackberry Ramblers: Luderin Darbonne and Edwin Duhon, Chuck Guillory with Preston Manuel, Revon Reed, Sady Courville, D. L. Menard, Dewey Balfa, Rodney Balfa, Rockin' Dopsey, Beausoleil, John Delafose, Suzy Rothfield, Danny Poullard, Cleveland Chenier, Clifton Chenier, Rockin' Sydney, Roy Carrier, Floyd Soileau, Margaret Chenier.
