Hermosillo's newest film follows through on the implications, stylistic and otherwise, of Bathroom Intimacies, using a fixed camera position, an immobile frame, to record most of the action. A film student has been given a homework assignment, to make a short film of her choice. She makes an appointment with a real estate broker, whom she had previously met, and after talking a bit about his family, asks to film the two of them while they are making love. Departing in anger, he leaves his briefcase. Upon his return to pick it up, they do make love; he discovers they are being filmed, has a change of heart, but that is not all. With Hermosillo, it never is. He based the film on a 1989 super-8 video which was widely acclaimed (it screened at AFI last year); for the film, he reversed the roles, "inspired by Howard Hawks in His Girl Friday...I thought it would be more interesting to have the woman making a porno film with the male used as a sex object" (JH).
