The Little Fugitive

Recommended for age 8 and older. This film is the appealing exploration of a child's playful imagination. Tricked by his brother's friends into thinking he has killed his older brother, a 7-year-old boy runs away to Coney Island. He abandons himself to the amusement park attractions--playing cowboy on the merry-go-round horses, devouring hot dogs and knocking down kewpie dolls with his toy pistol--until he is found and goes home. "This low-budget film by a group of semiprofessionals is one of the best films of the New York school and an authentic observation of American life (in the early 1950s)" (Georges Sadoul, Dictionary of Films).
