Fairy tales never stop changing as they are retold, rewritten and now refilmed. Quick research turned up two dozen different film versions of “Little Red Riding Hood” and we've selected six of the best: a puppet version done by Ray Harryhausen, creator of the Sinbad adventure films (1958, 9 mins); artist Red Grooms stars his daughter in a playful home movie version (1979, 19 mins); actors with elaborate carved masks mime the story by David Sonnenschein (1979, 17 mins); Little Girl & the Gunny Wolf is an Afro-American reworking of the tale, told and drawn by children (1971, 6 mins); and then the cartoons - Betty Boop in Dizzy Red Riding Hood by Max Fleischer (1931, 6 mins); and a Katharine Hepburn-like Riding Hood in Trial of Mr. Wolf by Friz Freleng (7 mins).
