The People I've Slept With

Hollywood's concept of the romantic comedy is still a very (outdated) white-or-black realm, but Quentin Lee (co-director of groundbreaking Asian American feature Shopping for Fangs) gives it a refreshing updating in this erotically charged new farce about sex in a city where diversity, whether racial or sexual, is the norm. Angela Yang (Karin Anna Cheung, Better Luck Tomorrow) knows what she wants-SEX-and doesn't mind who knows it; after all, she says, “a slut is just a woman with the morals of a man.” But when she suddenly discovers she's pregnant, it's time to find out who the daddy might be; she's hoping that it's the cultured (and hot) “Mystery Man,” (Archie Kao, CSI), who indeed has some secrets of his own. A refreshing blend of modern urban situations, well-drawn supporting characters, and old-fashioned romantic comedy conventions, the film also boasts a radiant lead duo in Cheung and Kao, who bring a sizzling chemistry and screen presence that overshadow the cast of any current Hollywood romance.
