The Wizard of Oz

Recommended for age 5 and older. A chance to see Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman and Cowardly Lion follow the Yellow Brick Road in the full splendor of a 35mm color print on the big screen. For followers of our series on images of disabled people in cinema, the cheerful Munchkins who inhabit Dorothy's dream must be the most famous and beloved of all small-statured people in cinema. On the negative side, they typify the childlike stereotype of small-statured people, but like many of the characters in our series, the perfectly able Munchkins lead us to the question: disability, or difference?
