letterboxing crops picture as well as some subtitles.
500 Per M/B/RS descriptive material: released in the U.S. in
1962 as The Hidden fortress by Albex Films; released in
the U.S. in 1984 under the same title by R5/S8
[distributors].
500 Print seems complete at ca. 126 minutes; however, the
original release length was 139 minutes (ca. 12510 ft.)
per Eren's Akira Kurosawa--a guide to references and
resources, pp. 56-58. The 1984 U.S. release version was
also 139 minutes per M/B/RS descriptive material. The 1962
U.S. release version was ca. 90 minutes (ca. 8100 ft.) per
the New York times 1962, Ja24, 24:2. 126 minutes is given
as the U.S. release length by Eren, and as a "foreign
release version" in the M/B/RS descriptive material. No
other release information could be found for a 126 minute
version.

520 The headstrong Princess Yukihime is under the protection
of a brave and resourceful samurai, General Rokurota. They
are pursued by enemies of her clan, bent on capturing the
family war fund of gold bars. The gold is hidden but is
discovered by two cowardly, opportunistic samurai, Tahei
and Matashichi. Rokuroto surprises them at their thievery
and forces them into serving the princess in her dangerous
and eventful journey to safety.
