This loopy, charming feature follows three aimless teenagers through a typical day of routine humiliations and comic misadventures in Montevideo. Given to genial putdowns and trivial arguments, los tres amigos find comfort in repetition and ritual. Wine, cigarettes, and rock 'n' roll (on LPs!) provide them with distractions, if not quite pleasure. Starkly realistic yet beautifully composed in black–and–white, 25 Watts recalls the drollery of the Czech New Wave.
