The African Queen

Still one of the most entertaining films ever made, The African Queen is a great love story, a great comedy, and a great adventure film - all thanks to the inspired casting of Bogart and Hepburn as skipper and spinster on board a river steamer in perilous African waters during World War I, and the creative collaboration of James Agee and John Huston in writing the screenplay. Bogart and Hepburn's chemistry is unique, and in the rugged “on location” settings chosen by Huston for “authenticity,” their acting generates a nitty-gritty realism that one can almost smell or touch.
