The Age of Daydreaming (The Age of Illusions)

One of the three major directors of the Hungarian New Wave of the Sixties, István Szabó (Confidence, Love Film, Father...), who visited the PFA in January, is generally considered the most lyrical and intimate in his treatment of political and social issues, and his intense questioning of events of the Fifties. The Age of Daydreaming, Szabó's first feature, made at age 26, portrays with humor and skepticism the problems of six young Hungarians looking for “direction” - romance, and jobs - in an overmechanized society.
