“Avant-garde” is a term difficult to define, a destination with infinite approaches. In tonight's program, Bay Area students present their visions of avant-garde cinema in styles that are as varied as their subjects. Haunting family histories and provocative takes on work are intermixed with more humorous pieces, including eighties nostalgia.
