Alternative Requirements: Works by Bay Area Student Visionaries

Artists in Person

This year's evocative program of Bay Area student works includes Black Candle (Paul Gill, Rekha Radhakrishnan, 2005, 2.5 mins, B&W), Portrait of a Glitch (Revere La Noue, 2005, 7 mins, Color), and The Touch (Vanessa Woods, 2006, 3 mins, B&W), in which poetry and science mesh with passion. Blissful afternoons outdoors in Bernadette (Kate Mack, 2006, 4 mins, Color) and Jet Set in Mono (Matt Fondacaro, 2005, 6 mins, Color) capture the emotions of youth, while senior citizens reminisce in Afloat (Erin Hudson, 2005, 5 mins, Color). Rebecca (Robert Shelby, 2006, 3 mins, B&W) and Subconsciouslessness (Danilo Parra, 2005, 5 mins, B&W) venture into the world of dreams, where desires and action collide; the cabaret-like Youkali (Jerome Clement-Wilz, Patricia Lopez, Esther Shubinski, 2006, 7.5 mins, Color) exhibits anxiety about where our desires lead. Killer's Kiss (Sara Blaylock, 2006, 8.5 mins, Color) pays conceptual homage to a noir classic. Pump (Sinisa Kukic, 2006, 5.5 mins, Color, 16mm) brings the streets of San Francisco alive through cameras attached to bicycles, and in Escalators (Larry Shao, 2006, 1 min, Color), a man defies space by being in two places at the same time.
