Introduction
featuringAna examines emotions from childhood that are re-born in other forms, with other faces, that have even become other emotions.
Antonio Reis and Margarida Cordeiro
Ana Maria Martins Guerra, Manuel Ramalho Eanes, Octávio Lixa Filgueiras, Aurora Afonso,
Margarida Cordeiro was from the Trás-os-Montes region, and in Ana the eponymous matriarch is portrayed by her own mother. The observations and conversations of a group of ethnographers visiting the remote village contrast with the experiences of the area’s residents and children. António Reis and Cordeiro document Ana’s daily chores and capture the play and wonder of children, evoking the difference in the experience of time, from endless summer days of youth to life’s fleeting passage for the aged.
