Attack of the Crab Monsters

"Classic early Corman, famed as the picture where you can see the tennis shoes on the feet of the man wearing the crab monster suit. The plot - involving monsters who assimilate the minds, bodies and voices of the people they eat - is fairly clever, especially as it allows very cheap voice-over for much of the dialogue. The main problem with the film is that the crab monsters just don't cut it. They have a bizarre charm of their own, but convincing as crab monsters they are not. The ending of the film, in which hero and heroine sink into the sea on a tiny plot of ground, is surprisingly bleak for an early Corman picture, most of which have happy endings."
