Autumn Sun

Clara is a fiftyish Buenos Aires woman looking for a Jewish fiancé, as her conservative brother who is about to pay a visit believes she is respectably engaged. Placing an ad, Clara gets Saul, né Raul, who is not Jewish at all but just wants to find a true love to share his lonely life. What follows is both funny and poignant as Clara becomes a Jewish Henry Higgins, tutoring Raul about Judaism so he can play the role she's cast him in. Federico Luppi and Norma Aleandro, two of Argentina's best-known actors, bring tender depth to a whimsical story, and their gentle chemistry brings the film much of its warm glow.-Traude Gomez
