Behind the Brickwall (A Teglafal Mogott) and Philemon and Baucis

Behind the Brickwall (A Teglafal Mogott)
Both Behind the Brickwall and Philemon and Baucis are television adaptations of stories by Hungarian writer Tibor Dery. Behind the Brickwall is set in 1950, and deals with the confusion and fear of people trapped between social theory and a brutally wielded power. Bodi is a party official charged with finding and prosecuting petty thieves in a factory. Convinced of the importance of his contribution to a new social order, he is blinded to the poverty of his fellow workers and to his betrayal of them. Gradually frozen out and eventually openly humiliated by his colleagues, he receives his only support and counsel from his wife.
