“RKO's ‘B's often had gloss but not much pep. This one, under the guidance of expert action director Richard Rosson, is quite a superior little entertainment, however. While its basic story of headline-hunting rivalry is familiar stuff, it crackles with good dialogue, a zippy pace, and some genuine surprises. The climax is possibly a little on the tame side, but only because the production values and overall skills have deceived us into thinking that we were seeing something both more important and more expensive.” William K.
