The Birth of a Nation

We continue our quest for the best possible print of Griffith's The Birth Of A Nation by testing here a new edition distributed by Killiam Shows, based on the 12-reel version cut by Griffith himself for reissue in 1921 (originally it had been over 13 reels). In this print, Killiam Shows have restored to some degree the original color tints and have synchronized an orchestral score.

As for the film itself, it is so famous and self-evidently essential a part of any Cinematheque's repertory that space need not be given here to a description of its importance and its controversial history.
