Blessed Event

“One of the best and most irreverent of the early 1930s comedies, Blessed Event is a send up of one of the dominant broadcasters of the time, Walter Winchell. Lee Tracy turns in his definitive performance as the rapid-fire gossip reporter, while a typically plentiful Warners helping of character actors adds some spice to the entree. Roy Del Ruth's direction is so good, one tends not to notice that there is very little action in the film; however, the delivery of the dialogue and Del Ruth's pacing build to such a crescendo that the film leaves the viewer gasping for breath.” Cinecon 20
