The Boy from Mercury
Recommended for ages 7+. Feeling like a misfit in school and a stranger in his own dysfunctional family, 8-year-old Harry is pretty well convinced he must be from another planet, and eagerly awaits the day when his extraterrestrial countrymen will return to take him and his alien dog Max home again. Until then, Harry relies on his "special powers" (which just happen to resemble those of his sci-fi hero, Flash Gordon) to deal with life's daily perils and problems, such as the school bully, an eccentric uncle, a widowed mother, and a self-absorbed older brother. Anyone with a less-than-perfect childhood will appreciate this humorous and heartwarming view of life from inside a child's imagination.
