Brief Ecstasy

As its title unwittingly indicates, both an echo of Ecstasy and a forerunner of Brief Encounter. A remarkable and virtually unknown British B-movie, although Graham Greene had the wit to recognize its maturity and style and to praise it for being an honest film about lust rather than love. Magnificently photographed by Ronald Neame, and the best of a handful of British films made by French director Edmond Greville.
