In 2007, an extraordinary gathering of choreographers, dancers, and musicians took place in a remote Senegalese village. Germaine Acogny-founder of the École des Sables, International Center for Traditional and Contemporary African Dances-invited artists from throughout Africa and its diaspora to participate in workshops and cultural exchanges.
