Clouds of May
The hot Turkish countryside is awakened by the wind. Muzaffer gazes out at this landscape, silent and enthralled. A filmmaker, he is fascinated with the textures and shifting light on the old houses of his hometown. But he is bored by the hopes of those who live there, including his father, who is determined to prevent the government from cutting down the trees on the property he has cultivated for fifty years. Muzaffer is intent only on making a film with his family as actors and crew. But can a filmmaker truly capture people on camera if he takes no interest in what drives them? This pensive modern fable with its sly humor and its unsentimental realism is dedicated to Chekhov.
