The Cradle of Courage

"Made just four pictures after Wagon Tracks (see January 22), for his own company releasing through Paramount and with the same director/cameraman combination, this was one of William S. Hart's occasional non-westerns--though he still plays his favorite role, that of the reformed good badman. A post-World War I setting and some interesting San Francisco locations provide added novelty. Hart was past his best period by now, but his films were still brief and gutsy, and this one has an especially good fight with Tom Santschi. The print, incidently, is of exceptional quality."
