Yuri Soloviev: I'm Tired of Living in My Native Land (Galina Mshankaya, Russia, 1998). A eulogy for Yuri Soloviev (1940-1977), a ballet dancer who committed suicide in his prime despite his enormous talent and international appreciation of his gifts. The press called him “the genius of the Russian ballet,” “flying Yuri, the Spaceman.” A graduate of the Vaganova Academy, he became the leading soloist at the Kirov Ballet. L'Adolescence (Vladimir Forgency, France, 1966). A young girl studies ballet with 84-year-old Madame Egorova, a former star of Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. Despite her diligence, she fails her first audition. Dancers: Sonia Petrovna, Madame Egorova. (22 mins)
