The Dancers

"A romantic melodrama spanning two continents and linking dancing with primitive passions against a jazz-age background, this Edmund Goulding scenario almost cries out for Douglas Sirk and Zarah Leander! It can't be taken too seriously, and action star George O'Brien seems a little out of place as a playboy torn between two women, but it's a lively and unpredictable film. The original film was so magnificently tinted that it had almost the look of a color film, and this excellent tinted copy preserves much of the rich photography of Ernest Palmer and Paul Ivano."
