Derrière le mur (Behind-the-Wall)

"The action, the set-a sort of huge Babylonian portal surrounded by sand-the idea of an ancient city in a desertlike South were already there. On the screen, while remaining in the symbolic domain, this becomes something like a story told by a man lost in the desert, who stumbles upon an ancestral city where a great festival is taking place, complete with powerfully symbolic dances. It is the festival of the hottest day of the year. A vast metaphor will develop, in this torrid realm, around the idea of fertility..." (J. Bouvier, R. Obadia).
