Suzie Templeton's animated film Stanley (U.K., 1999, 7 mins, Color, 16mm) records the lives of an unhappy couple. While his frustrated wife wreaks violence and death in the kitchen, Stanley finds life and love in the most unlikely of things. Jessica Buben's Gateau (U.S., 1999, 12 mins, B&W, 16mm) uses archival footage, text, and wonderfully aged re-creations to explore notions of sexuality. Permanent Wave (Anita Thacher, U.S., 1966, 3 mins, Color, 16mm) employs disjunctive body parts stitched together from pornographic materials to create a seemingly three-dimensional erotic dance. Using scenes from the TV show 90210, local filmmaker Samara Halperin creates a love affair between two unlikely characters in her new film Sorry, Brenda (U.S., 2000, 3 mins, B/W, 16mm).
