Charles Laughton makes his film debut here as an “insanely” jealous husband who doesn't seem too far off his rocker, really, considering his wife's suitors include both Gary Cooper and Cary Grant. Laughton is a submarine commander, the others are lesser officers, his wife is Tallulah Bankhead, and the lush melodrama is directed by Marion Gering to a thrilling climax-at-sea.
