Cree Hunters of Mistassini
This film affords the hunters and trappers of the Mistassini area of Northern Quebec their first opportunity to show what is at stake for them if a large power project begun in the area continues. In cooperation with the Cree people, two NFB filmmakers have recorded the setting up of a winter camp. The film brings to the screen seldom-observed scenes of Indian life in the bush. It is an attempt to show how these Indians live with the land in a way that reflects a complete set of ecological principles and subtle religious beliefs. It is an entire way of life that they are afraid of losing.
