Doorway to Hell

Admission: $1.00

Preceding The Public Enemy and Little Caesar by a year, this vintage gangster film was the first Warners' effort in the genre it was to dominate, and as such remains of great historical importance. Described by William K. Everson as “one of the best and most neglected early talkie gangster films,” Doorway to Hell stars Lew Ayres, but also gave James Cagney his first major role, and launched him to fame.
