East and West

“An American-Jewish garment manufacturer takes his impish, fun loving daughter Molly to his native town in the Old Country for a family wedding. The old-fashioned, good-natured relatives are infected by the irreverent spirit of Molly's antics, but she gets more entangled with them than she bargained for.... The action then moves to the ‘cultured,' up-to-date setting of Jewish Vienna, where all is resolved for the best. While there is affection in the film's caricature of traditional ways, it is clear that, in its view, modernity is the only serious option.” National Center for Jewish Film
