Shifting between 1970s New York and today, Bertha Bay–Sa Pan's lively and affecting first feature tells the mirroring stories of Kim, a headstrong girl whose dreams of independence were cut short by an unplanned pregnancy, and her daughter, Genie, who grew up vowing not to make the mistakes of her mother.
