The Fallen Idol

“An 8-year-old boy (Bobby Henrey), left in the charge of butler (Ralph Richardson) and his wife (Sonia Dresdel) in a foreign embassy in London, becomes a witness to the wife's accidental death and almost involves the butler (whom he hero-worships) in a murder charge. A quiet, subtle look into the mind of a young boy adapted by Graham Greene from his short story ‘The Basement Room,' and directed with great skill by Carol Reed, who made this one between his two masterworks Odd Man Out and The Third Man.”
