Film and Video at CCA: Performative, Gestural, Collaborative Work

California College of the Arts celebrates its hundredth anniversary this year; PFA joins its centennial celebration with two evenings of films and videos by faculty and students from CCA's Media Arts Department. Since the program's inception, film and video have been taught side by side in a creative, intellectual environment that engages an interdisciplinary practice and emphasizes community engagement. Our two programs highlight the school's history of mixing narrative, documentary, and experimental genres in screen-based, live performative work and sculptural media installation. Among the artists who have attended CCA are Alfonso Alvarez, Tommy Becker, Susanne Cockrell, Anthony Discenza, Steve Dye, Harrell Fletcher, Aaron Gatch, Gregory Gavin, Alex Killough, Mechele Manno, Katherin McInnis, Rivkah Beth Medow, Mary Tsiongas, Kim Wood, and Wayne Wang; faculty have included Kota Ezawa, Rob Epstein, Barbara Hammer, Jeanne C. Finley, Barney Haynes, Lawrence Jordan, Lynn Marie Kirby, Lynne Sachs, David Sherman, Jeffrey Skoller, Michael Wallin, and Caveh Zahedi. Works in this evening's program (titles to be announced) are selected from a call for submissions organized by Lynn Marie Kirby and Jeffrey Harland.
