A Florida Enchantment
Frustrated by her fiancé's affairs with hotel maids, a New York heiress pops one of the magic seeds that change women into men and men into women-without altering their outward appearance. But, after shaving "her" morning mustache, our heiress forgets vengeance under new-found pleasure in embracing other women at the Ft. Lauderdale resort. Such is the first of many sexual reversals in Vitagraph's amazing and little-known A Florida Enchantment, directed on location in Florida by Broadway star Sidney Drew. While its camera style is simple, the film's way of toying with gender-specific body gestures remains tellingly witty seventy-five years later. Scott Simmon
