Four Around a Woman (Vier un die Frau) (A.k.a. Fighting Hearts)
Four Around a Woman (Vier un die Frau) (A.k.a. Fighting Hearts)
Jon Mirsalis on Piano Apart from The Spiders, this recent rediscovery is the earliest available Fritz Lang. A rather complicated non-thriller plot is translated by Lang's visual style into a melodrama that constantly promises revelations that are never quite delivered. It's rather like Dr. Mabuse, ultimately turning out to be Human Desire. To say more would be to minimize the pleasure of rediscovery. It's a magnificent print, beautifully toned, and fully equipped with German intertitles which will be translated live. William K. Everson
