Admission: $3. Recommended for age 8 and older. An adventure story complete with pirates, buried treasure, orphans, evil foster parents and a happy ending. George likes living in a shack near Halifax harbor with his grandfather, who tells him that Captain Kidd buried a treasure on a nearby island. When a social worker has George taken from his grandfather and placed in a foster home, the boy escapes on Halloween and finds pirates on the island. Variety describes the film as "great fun"-since the adult characters exaggerate their roles to poke fun at the failings of grown-ups- "with a bright script (and) a sparkling Canadian cast."
