The Girl in the Sneakers

Recommended for ages 12+. Ahangarami is a normal, curious teenager, interested in boys. But she lives in Iran where walking with a boy in a park is an offense punishable by law. Boldly, she runs away from home and spends a difficult twenty-four hours on the streets of Tehran, drifting aimlessly from upper-class hotels to lowly squatters' camps. In a restrictive society that offers few options, she must choose between the dream of independence and the reality of life on her own. In Farsi with English subtitles. (110 mins, Color, 35mm, From Farabi Cinema Foundation)
